As we’ve written in earlier posts, now is not the time to cut back on your promotional marketing. We know you’re looking for event ideas that will generate buzz about your store and connect you with your customers and community -- without breaking the bank.
Starting this week, we’ll share low-cost holiday promotion ideas from David Peters, Director of Education for Jewelers of America.
Show that you care this holiday season. Your community,
like many others across the U.S., could be feeling the stress of the
mortgage crisis and job losses. Highlight your commitment to your community, while promoting the holiday spirit of generosity, by giving back to those in
need with charitable events like food, clothing or toy drives.
Peters suggests the following ideas for a successful event:
- Partner with a local, well-known charity and commit to raising funds or collecting needed items.
For every customer who brings an item or donation, offer a discount, or some other incentive as a way of saying "thank you."
- Create a festive in-store drop-off station so that every visiting customer learns about what you're doing.
- Write a press release well in advance to promote your store and its cause; encourage your charity partner to also write a press release.
- Make sure to list your drive or event at the websites of the sponsoring charity. Many national organizations, like Secret Santa, will help drive traffic to your store with their online search functions.
Take The Tip:
Many local charities have partnership and cause-marketing promotion programs to help you set up charity drives in your store. You can find more information at their local websites, or search national organization websites, like Feeding America.
