In "Print Advertising 101," Jewelers of America’s Associate Director of Marketing and Communications Molly Fallon gave expert tips on how to make the most of your advertising budget in print publications. She continues her advertising tips with advice on how to make the most effective ad design, while watching costs.
Use these tips to design a professional, and profit-making, advertisement:
- Designers: You can create your ad yourself, hire a graphic designer. Some publications offer in-house design services as well.
- Less Is More: In a newspaper that is cluttered with words and other ads, a simple, clean design can really stand out. Consider designing your ad “reversed” with a black background and white text.
- Be Consistent: Keep all your ad layouts similar to create a consistent, branded feel. If ads are run frequently, consumers will start to recognize your look.
- Get Free Creative From JIC: If you are in need of "creative" (pre-designed advertisement layouts), Jewelry Information Center offers ad slicks to their members and Jewelers of America members for FREE! They are available to download at www.JIC .org.
