When you have the opportunity to appear on television, what you wear -- from your wardrobe to your jewelry -- is critical, but the wrong body language can undermine even the most carefully prepared outfits. Today, in part two of a three-part series on TV appearance preparation, Amanda Gizzi of Jewelry Information Center shares tips on how to enhance your appearance with body language.
Gizzi provides the following tips for the best onscreen body language:
- Loosen Up and Don’t Appear Stiff. Relax and take a deep breath. You should think of the interview as a conversation about a topic you know and love -- jewelry -- and let your passion and confidence in the subject come through.
- Lean Forward: Gizzi says in photos and on camera, you shed pounds by leaning toward the camera.
- Look at the Reporter, Not at the Camera: Make sure you have eye contact with the reporter – it conveys trust and will help you to stay focused.
- Sit Up or Stand Straight: it conveys a more confident image.
