Is the foot traffic in your store slower than you’d like it to be? Summer and fall are notoriously quiet months for jewelry stores, but with the current unsettled economy, most jewelers report sales are even more sluggish than normal. Rather than pining for customer’s to magically appear, get proactive and fight back. Tough times require tough marketing, so you need to get creative.
In this multi-part Tip Series, Amanda Gizzi, of Jewelry Information Center, provides some insightful tips for creating in-store excitement and traffic:
- Sell Yourself Not Just The Jewelry: If you’re not currently involved in your community, get involved. The days of shopping at your local jeweler just because you always have are gone. Yet ven in the days of convenience, people still cherish relationships. They just have to be reminded more frequently about the relationship they have with your store.
- Gizzi suggests the following ideas to get your name out in your community:
- Donate your time to area school functions.
- Flip pancakes at the pancake breakfast and do what ever it takes to be present in your community.
- Take advantage of the Jewelers of America Tiara Program and donate tiaras to local pageants.
