As you know, decisions in Washington, D.C., today can impact your bottom line tomorrow. Members of the jewelry trade need not be silent on these matters. Through grass roots advocacy campaigns, we can have a collective and strong voice on Capitol Hill.
Now Jewelers of America has made it even easier for both members and non-members to reach out to legislators on issues of importance. Through the recently launched Legislative Action Center, you’re a point-and-click away from being heard by Congress.
Some quick tips to make the most of this new service:
- Educate Yourself: Read up on key legislative issues by visiting the "Legislation & Regulation" section at Jewelers of America’s website, www.jewelers.org. Members can access the more-detailed “Guide to Legislative Issues.” You can also use our new Legislative Action Center to contact your legislators, take action on JA’s legislative campaigns, and research and track legislation.
- Take Action: Use Jewelers of America's Legislative Action Center to easily contact your representatives. Currently, Jewelers of America is pushing for the reintroduction and passage of sales tax fairness and you can add your voice to the mix. Just fill in this pre-written form with editable talking points and click send.
- Be Accurate: Be sure to correctly input all of your contact information in the required fields, to ensure your message gets through!
- Save Your Settings: Tell the system to “remember” you, by checking the “Remember Me!” box at the bottom of the sales tax fairness and other alert pages, before you send your message. This way the Legislative Action Center will store your contact details, so there’s no need to re-enter them the next time you want to reach out to your representatives.
- Spread The Word: Once you’ve used this easy system to contact your legislators, take advantage of the “Tell-a-Friend” feature to urge others to take action. This form appears on the confirmation page after you send an email to legislators. You can contact up to 10 friends through the system.
